Joe Budden – Who Killed Hip Hop Lyrics
Joe Budden displays his hip hop knowledge and how good of a lyricist he is on this track. He questions the state of hip hop and tries to pin point when it “died”, who killed it, and when it happened. He mentions various events and people in hip hop that could have caused it’s death. The track is 16 minutes long when you combine pt 1, 2, and 3, and it was released over the span of about 3 weeks. This is a hip hop classic, and one of the craziest tracks I’ve ever heard. One long ass verse with some of the realest lyrics any real hip hop fan is guaranteed to appreciate. It amazes me that Budden doesn’t get the respect that he deserves in hip hop, but I have a feeling this had to wake some people up. I can’t even begin to imagine how long it took him to write this, but I’m definitely glad he did. This is hip hop at its finest.

Pun and I fell asleep on the game simultaneously and both of us have yet to reawaken. Frankly, consumers killed Hip Hop. We were given bullshit and made believed to think we had to like it for the sake of staying with the times or live in obscurity.
I live in obscurity by listening to Ice, Psycho Realm, Do or Die, Big Pun, etc. No joke, although in good taste, I get laughed at every time someone asks me “what I listen to?” and I respond outdated cats like those I mentioned.
Consumer! You have 2 options at the table: #1, buy that new shit ’cause it’s the latest cool shit. #2, buy that old shit and get left behind..
#1 Just sounds more appealing, frankly,
#2 Just sounds more appealing,
and yes, read between those 2 lines, they look the same, but hold different meanings…THINK ABOUT IT!
JOHNNY UR FAT
Only thing that sucks about Budden.. is so long as he’s rapping, he’s preventing me from ever being the best Jersey rapper out.
Joe Budden is fuckn dope.
Point Blank no matter how you slice it
Royce & Budden are the two who are actually keeping hip hop alive.
as seen on tv is a fucking faggot.. joe budden doesn’t want you as a fan..
Hey guys, look at me on the top of the page pointing into your soul like a don boss. Aint that somethin?!
Fuck that. It’s too long. the length ruins the estetic of his point. I am supposed to listen for 16 minutes this cats hip-hop manifesto and enjoy? Nope. the first 3 or 4 minutes was dope and the last line was the point. get to it man.
