I didn’t even know of this movies existence until a few days before its release. I heard the song Move On by Joell Ortiz ft. Joe Budden, where Budden spits the clever line, “I’m on my grind, benjamin huntin/ Was old since I was young, call me Benjamin Button“. Of course I didn’t understand the line at first, but me being me, I quickly searched google to see who he was referring to, and stumbled on the trailer. I was pretty intrigued by the concept of the movie, and very interested to see exactly how they were going to execute it. I finally got a chance to see the movie, and here’s my thoughts.

Agentspits Review of “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button“

The movie is pretty long, at almost 3 hours in duration, and I did feel like it could have been shorter, but I can’t say it was a waste of my time to watch it. It moved slow at times, but it kept a decent pace when covering his life during the different stages. Overall I’d say it was a good movie, but I went into it expecting a masterpiece, and it didn’t deliver one. I had assumed the story was gonna focus more on his condition itself, and how he lived with it, but it was more of a love story. Now I’m not anti-love story in movies, but I don’t feel like we got to know “Benjamin”, or the other characters well enough to invoke any strong emotions towards the story, or maybe I just wasn’t paying enough attention. I liked when he was the young creepy looking old guy the best, cause it was something I had never seen before, and it was interesting. People are making a lot of comparisons to Forrest Gump, and to me it’s kind of annoying to hear people make comparisons, instead of judging the movie as it’s own, but the similarities are clearly there. Not to mention the screenplay for both movies was written by the same guy. I think if I watched this movie one more time, I could appreciate it a little more, but that won’t be happening anytime soon. I would say if you got 10 bucks to spare, and want to see a good movie, head to the theaters to see it, just try not to go in with any expectations like I did. Also, if you already have it in your head that it’s a long movie, then it’s probably gonna feel that way. If you’re interested in reading the short story this movie was adapted from, you can buy it from Amazon, or read it here, or download it as a PDF here.

A lot of the stuff is sold out of sizes, or just not something I’d wear, but I found a decent hoody, a jacket,a dissizit shirt, and a shirt to go with this pair of shoes I been trying to find a matching shirt for. I’ll post my pickups on the blog when I get around to it. And if you found this post too late, and missed the sale, but would still like to save 10-20% off on Karmaloop, go to the link here for more info.

Well another year has passed, and I can say 2008 was a decent year for me. The best way to describe it is well balanced. I had a lot of new experiences, accomplished some goals, and stayed out of trouble. I still have a lot I need to improve on, and a lot I still need to figure out as far as where my life is headed, but doesn’t everybody? Let’s hope 2009 is a better year for everyone. Happy New Years people, be safe, continue improving, and always think about what you’re doing before you do it.

They used one of the most recognized, and hottest models Karmaloop had to offer to be on this shirt, for their limited edition, exclusive Karmaloop x T.I.T.S. collab tee. The model is named Kelly, and if you’ve browsed Karmaloop before, there is a good chance you have seen her before. I don’t think I would have purchased this shirt if it was another random girl on it, so this was a smart collab for both companies involved. There is 2 other colorways, but this shirt is selling out pretty fast, if you can find it in your size and want to buy it, or anything else on Karmaloop, don’t forget to save by using the discount codes found HERE.

I also wanted to take this time to post about a good song I heard recently titled “Karma” from an up and coming artist named Dion Primo. He’s a real talented emcee, singer, song writer, and producer that I could definitely see big things happening for, if he gets heard by the right people. You can hear/download the song in the following places, his Myspace, Zshare, or Rapidshare.

Joe Budden, and Ransom, both from New Jersey, were at one time considered acquaintances, and could be heard on numerous songs together. Their “beef” started when Joe Budden was putting together a collab track for his Mood Muzik 3 mixtape, and he got a verse from Ransom. Budden also put Ransom’s ex partner in rhyme, Hitchcock, who he was in the group A-Team with until they broke up, on the same record, without Ransom knowing about it beforehand. The song was titled “Family Reunion”, and also featured Fabolous. This beef started at the end of 2007, and we got to hear them go back and forth, and everything was kept on wax. Well here we are, at the end of 2008, and the beef we thought had died out, has resurfaced, and been taken to another level.

I personally think this shit is stupid as hell, especially if something really does happen, there’s gonna be evidence of it all over the internet. The latest update, which you can see above, is Joe Budden stating he is going to take the high road on this beef, and let Ransom have the win.

Here’s the full recap of this battle thus far, from beginning to now.

Ransom sent the first shot on record, with his track “Kid Brother”

Download Kid Brother

Budden wasted no time, and responded with “Heart Of The City” which was a real light, warning message, to Ransom, keeping it real, and saying we can end this before it gets outta hand.

Download Heart Of The City

Ransom responded with “Somebody Gon Die Tonight” and well no one died.
Download Somebody Gon Die Tonight

Budden came back in an unbelievably short amount of time, and went for the throat with “Ransom Note” and this track put any doubts about Budden losing this battle to rest.

Download Ransom Note With Intro

Ransom tried to give it one last try, but fell short with his diss track “The End Of Joe“.

Download The End Of Joe

This is the video from a couple weeks ago that started the beef back up. it’s Joe Budden and some friends, talking about Hip Hop, and Budden says some things about Ransom.

Ransom didn’t take too kindly to what he heard Joe Budden’s say about him, and goes on to say some disrespectful things about Budden, his girl, and more.

Joe Budden talks about how he went to Ransom’s hood, and him and his boys saw Ran, and they beat him up on video, and he ran from them. He also says he will release the footage if Ran says anything else about him.

Ransom explains his side of the story, and then goes to one of Budden’s friends house, looking for him, but he’s not there. They talk to the guys brother, asking where he’s at, and one of the guys with Ransom, slaps the guy. They leave after he closes the door, and they talk tough for a bunch of minutes.

Joe Budden analyzes the situation, and says he is going to be the bigger man, and take the high road, and let Ransom have the win.

I finally got a chance to watch this movie, and I have to say I enjoyed it. I’m a big fan of Seth Rogen, and the projects he’s been involved in, so when I heard about this movie, I was anticipating it big time. Kevin Smith is also great, and the guy from The Office is funny as hell too. The concept of the movie had a lot of potential to make this movie interestingly funny to say the least. I really wasn’t sure if this movie would be as funny as I was hoping it to be, because the trailer didn’t really seem all that funny. I guess most of the parts that I found hilarious, wouldn’t be able to be shown on tv. My only complaint about this movie is the ending, which leaves part of the storyline unexplained.

If you enjoy 40 Year Old Virgin, Superbad, Knocked Up, type of comedy, then you will most likely enjoy this movie, so I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a good laugh.

I need to have a small role in one of these movies, for real.

Funny side story, I brought this movie up to a cousin of mine, but I didn’t wanna say “porno” cause we were around family, and he accidentally called the movie “Zack And Miri Make A Mixtape” lol funny shit.

It’s always good when these 2 link up for a track. Real laid back smooth joint, they both came nice, and the song seems to get better every time I hear it. The video above is from Joe Budden TV, Joell and Joe are discussing how the song should be structured, and they have some differences. This song is from Joell Ortiz’s “The Free Agent Mixtape”, not sure about the details on the tape, but it should be good. He’s also working on his next album which is to be named “The Free Agent”. You can hear pt 1 of a recent interview he did with Rapmusic.com here. When pt. 2 of the interview drops, we’ll hear him talk about the group Slaughterhouse, which is him, Budden, Crooked I, and Royce Da 5′9, as well as other topics.

Still working on fixing up the lyrics…..still a work in progress as of now

Joell Ortiz:
No I don’t respond with answers that fit a script
So the repetition make a nigga flip
We in the game of smoke and mirrors
Those engineering a bigger spliff
Blowing circles out they mouth gettin praised but the shit is shift
I never lived a myth
If i said it i did it
Never a alleged
Word to dead i grip the 5th
Made my housing tenant a strip
Moving medicine and nicks
When i seen em comin i jetted from them pricks
And still to this day though she clean i wish my mommy never sniffed
The hurt is making me better with this gift
I’m live with this ink and
You can die in a blink and
Y’all got the nerve to ask me why do i drink em
Mutha fucka sometimes i cry when I’m thinkin
Y’all aint there when them tears bein dried by the sink
It was cold in the winter
My community centers who gave me dinner
I aint mind my table chairs gave me splinters
Set up to be a loser but was made to be a winner
If they paint hip hop i bet my face be in the picture
If they wrote a rap bible bet my name be in the scriptures
If shorty say im her idol bet her face be in my zipper
I came a long way from staples in my skrilla
Stains on my pants harvey had a gut
They ladies aint wanna dance so the house party’s would suck
All my friends on the wall I’m in the hall with a cup
Nah i aint complaining just tellin y’all what it is
So if ya goin threw it now just know that another kid
Made something outta nothing, well I’m frontin i was never nothing
Older ladies use to tell my mother “Ain’t he something”
I look a lot of you cats and laugh
Cuz im the shit man and yall aint even passin gas
When I spit I’m the definition of mastered craft
And all yall ask about is aftermath
Mutha fucka move on

Joe Budden:
I gotta do get own interview
Since niggas that do my interviews
Focus on whatever’s minuscule
Or paint me as a cynical
But the canvas a limit you
You cant go beyond what there’s no limit to
If i think hip hop is dead i think its being revived
And that comes from me being inside
Where the demons get popped, see em goodbye
If I’m vehement, here’s why
Come from hearin it, seein ?? lies
So the beast in me crys cuz when its all you hear
Just when the over in air
So i try to think straight cuz when you stare in the rear
Rest in peace do it shakir(?) nigga yea
I’m on another label not that other label
That means its no longer my problem its theirs
Some say its a conspirac’
I say if everybody on the thrown thats just more motive to kill the heir
Ask me bout pump it up and I’mma think you sheep
Or you must not know I’m deep
I’m so off of music so y’all get soundscan every week
Me I just got my lil man every week
Jersey city loves me despite yall beliefs
Cuz they was baby stepping i showed em how to leap
Ask me about swag, imma change the topic
With lyrics in them rag
Must look at you like a fag
I love everybody dont ask me who i beef with
They burned the bridge but they was standin underneath it
I’m on my grind benjamin huntin
Was old since i was young
Call me Benjamin Button/Budden
Stop using slang just for you to be cool
Cuz i go back to when it was cool to be you
I’m a hero, no i mean im Hiro from Heroes
Y’all chase zeros
Muh fucka i just got finished hatin me feelin like a zero
They play dinero never been there though
So before your next thought understand
Theres much more to me than a man
Either that or move on…
