R.I.P. George Carlin (6-22-08) age 71
AGENTSPITS THOUGHTS: Well it seems one of the best to ever do stand up comedy, one of my personal favorites, George Carlin, has died today, June 22, 2008 at the age of 71. For an older guy, he seemed to be pretty healthy when he was up there on stage or doing interviews, but you can’t always tell by looking at a person how healthy they really are. I’m very rarely affected by celebrity deaths, for the obvious reasons that I have no direct emotional connection to them, but there are some celebs that you really hate to see pass on, because of the entertainment they’ve brought you over the years, and George Carlin was definitely one of those people for me. It was always a pleasure to see an old man like crazy Carlin doing his routines, filled with intelligently vulgar strings of thought, and it’s sad to think that we won’t be getting any new material from him. He didn’t seem to hold back much, and thats what you had to love about this guy. He was very passionate about his comedy and his views of the truth, and it showed when he was doing what he did best up on stage in front of all his fans. Not many other comedians can manipulate the English language quite like he could, he was one of a kind, a witty, angry, and intelligent man that wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. There will never be another George Carlin, one of the realest comedians to ever bless the mic. He will live on through his dvds and youtube videos for many future generations looking to be entertained.
I’m always gonna regret looking at the newspaper a little over a year ago, seeing he had an upcoming show in the area, and promising myself I would remember and try to go, and then remembering about it when the show had already passed! If only he could come back for one more show, his grand finale and give us the performance of a lifetime. George Carlin, I can honestly say, you played a small role in me not believing in God anymore thanks to your “Religion is Bullshit” bit, and lets hope you were right, cause if you weren’t, I’m sure you’ve got a lot of making up to do before you reach Heaven. You made me want to open up my mind so I don’t fall victim to this big corrupt, evil world we live in. I’m gonna enjoy your old stand up specials whenever I’m in need of a good laugh. I still have your page-a-day calendar on my desk that I use when I need to write down a note on a small piece of paper, but I never forget to read the quote on it first! Thanks for all the great entertainment, Rest In Peace you dirty old man!
